Great features, great price

Pros

I was looking for two main things in a roadmap tool: 1) a clear visualization of my roadmap, and 2) the ability to prioritize product ideas. For #1, it was crucial that I could align my roadmap items with a theme to ensure everyone understands how these items benefit our users. Plus, the price point was perfect for our small product team.

Cons

I really wish I could apply custom weights to the prioritization aspect of the roadmap but I found that this feature isn't available at the lower price-point. Also, while I can display the themes on the roadmap, there's no easy way for me to show the descriptions of those themes directly on the roadmap itself.

Best tools to track roadmaps

Pros

It is a great tool for tracking my roadmap. I can easily post the link and make it accessible to anyone who needs it. I also appreciate that I can update it every sprint. The templates they offer are a real time-saver, letting me set up my roadmap without worrying about starting from scratch.

Cons

My main challenge was syncing with TFS or our internal Azure DevOps. I think Roadmunk should definitely make it easier for users like me to sync with these systems, as it felt a bit difficult to get it right.

Niche and expensive

Pros

It's super easy to use, the results look great and the interface is very user-friendly.

Cons

I felt like I was paying a premium price for a product that felt quite focused and limited in its features. It didn't feel like it justified the cost in comparison to other tools available.

Easy to learn

Pros

The roadmaps I create with Roadmunk are visually appealing and really easy for others to understand.

Cons

The integration with other systems is not great in my experience, which means I have to manually update everything all the time. Honestly, the tool isn't saving me any time because of this.

User-friendly software

Pros

I love how it helps me visualize and document my roadmap tasks. Sharing with external parties is very easy.

Cons

It would be so helpful if there was baseline management. Right now, we're copying and archiving versions every quarter, and then we have to compare them. Working on the timeline can be frustrating too because tasks often merge with others or get reordered. Plus, the order isn't saved when archiving old roadmaps, so I end up having to redo all the visualizations and settings. It would be awesome if Jira integration was two-way, like if I updated card statuses or comments in Jira, it would update automatically in Roadmunk.

Limited workflow customization

Pros

One of my favorite features is the drag-and-drop functionality. I get a clear, holistic view of my entire roadmap, which is so helpful.

Cons

I found the features and functionalities to be pretty limited. Honestly, tools like Atlassian have way better integrations and roadmaps that sync with tickets and track progress much more effectively.

Mid-range software I'm torn about...

Pros

Setting up Roadmunk was a piece of cake and the templates worked perfectly for the projects I was managing. I also loved that I could generate a web URL to share with people who aren't Roadmunk users.

Cons

Over the time I used this tool, I ran into several instances when it just wasn't working. This became really frustrating because I was using it to manage my clients as a consultant and couldn't access projects when I needed to. Linking activities was easy enough, but when adding, linking, or updating multiple activities I often had to do each step individually, which was a problem.

Solid tool with a clear USP

Pros

It was super easy to get started, but there's also so much depth to the tool. I can build really detailed maps, and the onboarding was excellent.

Cons

We haven't been using the tool for long, so I can't speak to everything yet. I imagine there may be some limitations in terms of visualization, but I've noticed that Roadmunk is always expanding its features, so I'm hopeful it will improve.

Really love using this tool

Pros

I appreciate having the option to switch between a kanban or timeline view for the indexes I created. It gives me a lot of flexibility.

Cons

One thing I'm not happy with is that I can't manually change the color of an item. It would be a small improvement but would really help with customization.

Pros

It's incredibly easy to use & I can manage multiple roadmaps at once without any hassle.

Cons

The interface starts to look messy when I'm working with multiple projects. It's not the cleanest design and honestly, the price feels a bit high for what it offers.
